HortPark Day (Feb 13, 2009)

That day... daddy was working and mommy had taken leave to spend time with the kids. I mentioned to them the day before that HortPark (near my office) was nice and the kids would love it there.. and they did.

Lots to see with a variety of plants (think botanical gardens.. smaller and walkable scale).

Entry is Free, parking is not (unless you go there between 10am - 5pm, 1st hr free).

Good opportunity for the kids to learn about plants and the veggie they eat. In the pic above, the trio walked through a garden that produced edible food... Garlic, Chilli, Tomatoes, Long Beans, Peppers, Basil.. etc.

Aside from plants, there's also several playgrounds for the kids... not very crowded.

The trio love to play on slides and this particular one was long made our of more traditional material.. stainless steel.

The kids love to hang on to the bar just before they slide... here's a pic of that...

And so.. the Flyer re-opens.

After being shutdown due to a electrical fault in the control room, the Singapore Flyer re-opens with backup systems in-placed in record time. (sort of. Just don't ask the tenants impacted by the closure)

We took the nite "flight" as we did not want to see the on-going construction at the Marina Integrated Resort (IR).

Went on the same night where Chingay 09 was having a rehearsal and so alot of the roads was blocked. This proved to be a good thing as it restricted the crowd getting to the Flyer and we were able to get an entire capsule to ourselves.

The ride was ok.. had good views of the night skyline and of course, taking pictures at night is always a challenge. Here's a few...

We brought along our helpers as well.. they appreciated the ride. :-)Singapore Flyer - 30 Jan 09 by you.

One of the reasons that we took it that day was because the kids "Gong-Gong" was leaving to go back to Taipei to work for the next 6 months(longer if required). So it was a good family time with him as well.

L, M, N, O, P

Is it me or do all kids have trouble getting this section of the alphabet song right? Whenever they sing the song, right at this point in the song.. they will go "L <insert gibberish> P".. "Q R S....etc".

Gotta record them sing this one of these days....

We're back!

Having spent 17 days in Taipei, it's good to feel the heat again (and the humidity as well).

Traveling with the kids and having holiday in Taipei was fun and I look forward to do this again.

Day out in Taipei City... Taipei IOI

Yup.. after being cooped up for a couple of days.. the weather was great (out-door AC).

IMG_1273_resize by you.

Almost all our travels in taipei is via the public buses. Most journeys cost only NT$15 (SGD$0.70) and the most you pay is NT$30 (SGD$1.40). When you get up the bus, you check if you have to pay on your way up the bus or down. If it's Up, then you pay your NT$15 first. When it's time for you to get down, you check if the state has changed. If it did, then you pay another NT$15. (only applicable if you travel far). In Taiwan, they also use something similar to EZ-link card.

On our walk to Taipei IOI from Taipei City Hall MRT Stn.

The roads were closed that day.. they had a street carnival..

We are in Taipei!

Took the sleepover flight.. kept the kids up till the plane took off (about 1:45) and fed them their milk and all 3 dozed off. About 1 hr later, food was being served with the kids being served first. Too bad the 3 of them are all asleep so only I ate their food (I was hungry... bite me) and later, also ate my own serving.

Tried to sleep....I think I did.. cause Marilou heard me snoring. Mommy was lucky as the other passenger was considerate and asked to be seated elsewhere so that she has more space. With more space, Jillian could sleep lying down across 2 seats with the rest, sleeping in their seats.

More info to come...pics first.. of our first day in Taipei.

The girls with Gong-Gong...

Gong-Gong had to work.. so we went out shopping on our own.
