Mommy's Thots.....

I've been wondering and thinking .... ....now that I'm back to work for about a month... ... I still miss the babies quite a bit everyday, given a choice I would rather be home with them more than anything else. I long for weekdays to pass faster, so that the weekends arrive sooner. And when weekend comes I wish time pass slower so that I have more time with them. I guess every working mom will understand how I feel... ... =) but anyhow, 3 babies at a time, it's triple the joy.

People at work always ask me how I cope, I'll just say, you need all the help you can get, so thankfully, grandma(my mom) & 2 maids are around to look after them; (yes, I've got to hire 2 domestic helpers).Grandpa comes home early from work too everyday to help out... =) Me & Gene, we drop by to see the babies every Monday & Wednesday, we pick them up on Friday and come Sunday, we bring them back. So technically, Gene & I have Tuesday & Thursday nites to ourselves. It's a nice break for us to spend some couple time together, do the laundry, do some shopping, watch TV/DVDs...etc =)

2 of 3 Jabs

They went for their 2nd installment of their Jabs. First up was Jared. He didn't even show any signs of pain.. he was too distracted by the nice toys that Dr Tan had in the clinic. Next up was Jillian..as soon as the needle went in.... Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh...then Gong-Gong had to try and please her and brought her out for a short walk. Finally it was Joanne. The jab went in.... Cry Cry Cry...like for 3 seconds, then stopped. They may get fever.. they may not. The mommy took leave to stay by their side.... nonetheless.

Their personality is really showing... you can see who is the more "siao-jie" and who is the "I'm down with that..." Will try and post some recent pics.. as you have noticed.. they have more hair now!!

Triplets update... 2 of 3 (Jared & Joanne)

Just had to put it in the title.. to update those new the the blog
site.

Jared has started to learn to turn from his back to the front..
problem is that his arm is often stuck beneath his body so he tries and tries to
get it out till he gets angry with himself. Jillian is also showing signs of
trying to turn but not Joanne. The mommy think she maybe on the more advanced
side that she will skip turning and jump straight into crawling. Don't know how
that is gonna happen... will let you all know if it does. As usual, the weekend
with the babies has been great and a little chaotic when one of the maids are
not around when they go for their Off. I was telling friends that we need to
have n+1 if anyone is to have some breather space.. if not, very challenging.

Here's a pic of Jared and Joanne in the "cage".

Five months a coming...

The triplets are coming to 5 months now and they sure are growing up fast. Compare them to as when they first entered the world, you would never guess that were were delivered at 34 weeks. Leading the pack in-terms of weight is Jared followed by Joanne and Jillian. If you recall, Joanne was the heavier one with Jared as the lightest.. he has since caught up and overtook Joanne in the weight and size. With each passing month, the clothes that were given to them or on-loan are beginning to get lesser and lesser. Clothes for girls are still doing ok but for Jared, not so. So lucky for him, mommy is more than happy to go on a shopping spree.

We recently also got quite a few BabyGap clothes from Sharon's uncle over in Thailand. Apparently, he owns one of the factories that makes the Gap clothing so he got us some of them. hoooooooooooo! Here's a pic of the babies with my sister and Gevin.

The babies are little under the weather...

This was bound to happen sooner or later... I was hoping for much later.

Over the weekend, all of them caught the cough. The severity varies between them with Joanne coughing the most and Jared closely behind. Jillian is fairing much better but we fear that the cough might spread to her.. so we need to be extra careful when feeding them and to ensure that they do not share milk bottles and all.

All along, I was trying to avoid crowded places and if friends had children that were sick or recovering.. I tried to see if we could manage that as well. But as the saying goes.. not matter how prepared or how worried you are, they are bound to get sick one day.

Sharon was pretty worried as well so much so that she slept with the babies last nite before we took them to the PD today.

Some good news though, Jared was previously thought to have a slight heart murmur and if it was true, it could be bad as it would mean that there is a hole in his heart. After checks today at the clinic, we are glad to announce that all the babies are fine and we can finally get them covered in the insurance policies that we have bought them. ;-)

Hope the cough they are having is just a passing phase and that they recover quick. Pray for them.

Mum & Dad

Back to work for Mommy...

Yup.. Sharon is back at work and we are trying out the arrangements that we've planned. In case you don't know.. here's how things work.

1. Babies are with Sharon's parents. (Thanks to them for helping)
2. The maids assist Sharon's mother with the day-to-day baby things.
3. We (Mom & Dad) go back to Sharon's parent's place to look at the babies and have dinner as well. (not everyday... )
3a. Either I pick Sharon up at Suntec OR
3b. Pick her up at Queensway MRT (whichever suits the situation that day)
4. We take the babies home every Friday and bring them back Sunday evening for sunset Mass.
5. Sat we bring the babies back to my parent's place for my parents to see the babies.

As you can see, the schedule is pretty tight and does not leave much room for anything else. Will see how long this arrangement goes before we have to make changes again... stay tuned. ;-)

Baby Updates....

Jillain, Joanne & Jared, will be 4 months old this weekend. How time flies.... =) especially when I have 3 babies to look after at one go. They're all growing well. They're approximately 6kgs. Joanne & Jared are catching up with Jillian, both are longer than her now. All have learnt to suck their tumbs quite well, especially Joanne, she can do it with both hands ....kekeke =)..... Their necks have also began to strengthen quite a bit. I think the next milestone will be for them to roll over and sit up.

We should be seeing Dr. Tan (their PD) in August for their next dose of 6 in 1 jab, by then they should be 5 months old. Hopefully, this time they won't get any fever.

Pray for all of us.

More Pics ..... coming soon....

Love, mommy.

Going back to work...........

I'll be going back to work in 3 weeks time. It was a difficult decision to make. I guess having had triplets, I didn't really have a choice, I have 3 mouths to feed, clothe & diaper. 3 times the medical bills, 3 times the innoculations. Initially, I thot with 3 of them i could justify giving up my career to look after them, not wanting to miss out on any of their developments, their 1st smile, 1st gurgling, 1st roll over, 1st crawl, 1st step etc.... many many 1sts, 2nds & 3rds...... with 3 of them, everything is triple times over. So in order to provide for them better and to save up as much as I can, I have to go back to work, until such time when they're a little older (maybe 2 or 3 years old), I'll consider staying at home to look after them. As for now, the grand-parents will be taking over.
I realised this is the most difficult decision to make. To leave my darlings at home with my parents on weekdays and only taking them home on weekends. I will miss them dearly, having spent so much time with them day in & day out. When I go back to work, weekends will be very precious. I think only working moms will understand how I feel.... =( I'm so reluctant to go back to work.......arh...arhhh...

A visit to the PD for their 6 in 1 jab (1st dose)

Jillian ..... waiting patiently, where's everyone, I thot we're going shopping....=)

This is Joanne, all dressed to go shopping.......

Jared fell asleep while waiting for his 2 Jie Jies to get dress..... sigh girls are so slow....or is it mommy..... kekekeke=)
The babies are 12 weeks old, they weigh about 5 kg now. Joanne is the tallest, followed by Jared & Jillian. They had their 6 in 1 jab yesterday... Baby Jillian cried the loudest..... Joanne & Jared were more brave, they only cried for a short spell. As Dr Tan has not seen them for a month, he says they all look different and they are growing very well... they don't look like premies anymore..... they are also developing well. Only Jared has alittle heart mur mur (maybe due to his rapid growth or there's a hole in the heart; I pray that it's due to his growth & not a hole in the heart)..... he is given iron supplements now, there's very little Dr Tan can do now for him, but wait & see if this condition persist till Jared's 6 months old... then his condition can be accessed. Hopefully, Jared will out grow this heart mur mur.......(dear frens, pray for him ok) other then that all of them are happy babies, feeding & sleeping well.... soon they'll be sitting up and turning...... can't wait =)

Some Baptism Photos........

Mervin, Debbie, Mommy & a crying Joanne...... =)
Grandma & Jillian...... Grandpa & Joanne.....
A group photo of Babies, Godparents, Grandparents, Mommy & Daddy......

Like Gene mentioned, most of the photos are lost, and these are the only few good ones found in Grandpa's camera..... Grandpa had shakey hands (carry grandkids too much..... ;-)), most pictures were blur.....

Sorry Leonard & Celest, couldn't find a nice picture of you guys with Jillian..... all of them turned out blur......

Lucky we have a group photo..... =)

The Triplets got Baptised on Sunday!! (11 June 2006)

Yes.. they got their entry tickets into God's kingdom. :-)

Here's the breakdown on who is who's Godparents.

Jillian Sarah Aw
Godparents: Leonard and Celest Chong

Joanne Sophie Aw
Godparents: Mervin and Debbie Siow

Jared Samuel Aw
Godparent: George and Amelia (sorry... what's George surname again? heheh)

p/s Bold names are the Baptism names.

There was going to be a few pictures of the ceremony BUT my damn SD card got corrupted!!! aaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!! Will just get another one that is MORE reliable. Damn SDcard.

The mass started at 4pm and it was raining. (Blessings from Heaven!) The Chongs and the Siows were running late again (what's new? hehe) Good thing Celest came in time to pass Jared the Baptism gown..thx!!! The whole mass went on pretty well with the expectations of babies crying and all. This week in Church was also Holy Trinity Week which so happens to also be OLPS first infant baptism of Triplets! What a nice coincidence! *snaps* *snaps*

Will add more when i can now... with pics if I can.

Triplets with Dr Suresh Nair (Sharon's Gyne)

Today (Sat), we set off on a bold mission. To conquer Orchard Rd and do what no parent with triplets (not that I know of anyway).. Shopping and have lunch (together and at the same time). Alas, we tried and failed and only manage to get this great pic of the family with Dr Nair. All is not lost though. We did have lunch .... but not at the intended place... and we set off from home.. all tired.

Today's experience taught us NOT to plan. Net time, we just GO GO GO. Planning is for wimps! :-)

Almost a week !!!

Short one today... It has been almost 7 days now since Sharon and the babies have moved back to stay with her parents. The family is coping with the changes and the babies are getting used to the different environment and childcare techniques. I would be heading in for my annual reservist soon (30/05 - 10/06) and I'm not too sure if I would be staying out.

The long awaited updates... Sorrie guys!!!

As you all can imagine, it's been really tough with the 3 babies at home. It's been about a month now since we have been staying at my parent's place over at Bedok and things are about to change again. The current arrangement with my parent's is taxing out everyone and we need to get additional help to get through this period. Considering our options, Sharon's parents suggested that we hire another maid and move back to their place in Hume. This is also taking into consideration that Sharon is going back to work in July and the extra help and hand is needed. So it looks like it moving time again back to Hume. Hume is not very big so I might have to either sleep in the hall or with my Brother-in-Law. I could always sleep at my own home in SK or go back home to my own parent's place in JLB (Bedok). As with most things.. all this is rather fluid and WILL change as we go along. Pray for us to find a workable solution to this...

Some details on the babies now... the babies are growing well and they just started on their Vacination cycle.. they just got their BCG jab on Monday (8th May 2006) and the next jab is on the 12 of June. The follow up one could induce a fever in them so we need to be monitor them closely. Jared's crying is rather distinct with a lowly growl.. whenever he cries, you know it's him. Joanne is the fussy-pot. She take no nonsense from anyone and will scream her lungs out whenever she is taking a bath, feeling hungry or just not in the mood to sleep. Jillian is a bit milder but she is picking up on the 'attention-seeking' bit from her younger sister. She has been rather constipated so the PD recommended a new milk formula for her. She is on Dumex and the rest is still on Similac. Not the cheapest milk on the market but since it is for our children.. we have to try and give them the best.. as would any loving parent. :-)

Will post some updated pics of them when I can.. till then, take care and God Bless.

Luv,
Mom & Dad

Parenthood.. 26 days in.

This parenting thing is not as easy and with 3 at a go, the effort required is three fold. As mentioned by Sharon, we need all the help we can get and it's not easy getting them. Current arrangement as it stands, Sharon's mom stays in with us most of the days.. except for the weekends and my mother swings by daily from Bedok and leaves at around 6pm. My mother is with us everyday but only during the days as she has to rush back home and look after my younger sister (16yrs old). My mother does not drive and so she has to either gets a lift from my retired dad or take a 1hr 30mins journey to my place in Sengkang. She has to do this almost everyday. :-(

So when night comes around, with Sharon's mother not around, we are left alone to fend for ourselves. We do have a maid with us, but she is there mainly to do the housework and to cook for us. The maid has alot of catching up to do before we are pleased with her performance. So with that, you know we can't depend on her for anything major unless we have to.

Also mentioned by Sharon, I have a day job and it's not easy working in the day and not getting enough rest at home. So far since the babies are back, I haven't had any decent sleep and I don't think Sharon has either. What I worry is if one of us falls ill, then we are in trouble as it means we would be down a pair of helping hands.

With Sharon's mother taking a 1 month holiday to China in April, we have to seriously consider how we can manage with just the two of us. Yes, my mother will still be around, but how can they handle 3 babies and still expect Sharon to rest in the day (since she tries and cover the night feeds). Not many options left and one of them is to consider moving back to my parent's place in Bedok. This would help as my mother will always be around and to add to the goodness of this, we have very nice neighbours.. the Chongs! who we can call for help if required. (I hope! :-) )

Pray for us to get thruogh this period. We need all the help we can get.

Love and hugz,
Mommy & Daddy.

Jared is home..... i.e. All the Babies are home =)

Hi, all the babies are finally home.... Jared came home on Wednesday when we brought Joanne for her 1st check up with her PD. Joanne weighs approx. 2.27kg, Jilllian wweighs approx. 2.02kg now..... Jared will be catching up with big sisters soon..... =)

And as expected, it's a "mad house", with millk feeds, crying, sleeping & lastly clearing of soiled diapers. And trust me, these babies "poo" alot......lots of help is required, both grandmas have been mobilised to help out as much in the day, while I usually cover the night feeding with Gene. It's a tuff job man....!!!! =) I'm sleep deprived. I usually try not to disturb Gene unless I really need his help, but he hears their cry too.... so I guess we have to sacrifice some of our sleep and we understand what most parents go thru now, but ours is triple the effect all at one go..... So here's what Gene and I have worked out, he'll go to bed earlier and then he can try to cover their early morning feeds while I'll stay up late to cover their wee hour feeds.... so lets see if this pattern works for both of us. =) hahaha..... I'll keep all posted.... maybe other triplet parents can use our arrangements as well.....

We'll post more photos as we go along and when we can afford the time.... stay tuned.....

Luv,
Dad & Mom.

Jillian is back home!!!

*snaps* *snaps*

Guess who called in the morning.. the PD! Yupz... he gave his green light on Jillian and she was back home with us in the afternoon. With them together, it still hard to tell who is who. Ha! Features aside, you can still tell who is who by their size... as Joanne is a bit bigger.

Jared should be back home soon so this week things are set to be exciting. Stay tuned! ;-p

Sleepless Nites... and tots

Hahaha.. as expected, we haven't been getting enough sleep at night. The first nite was bad cause whenever Joanne made any noise, I would wake up. Not good. Second night is better and now, I'm getting used to it. Whenever Joanne requires a feed or changing, Sharon would wake up and do the required. Sounds bad for the husband not to do anything right? Well, I try to offer help if I can but I would be really tired out the next day.

With the rest of them coming back next week, it's gonna get even tougher and with how things are happening around here. We might need extra help and might consider shifting back to my parent's place. There are pro and cons with doing that, but I guess, there would be more pros than cons.

Joanne has been eating well and her habits are pretty predictable. It's either "feed me" or "clean me". I don't about the other two.. I just pray we can manage them.

Today at church during homily, Father talked about persistence and to look forward towards the goal/target. hmm..... Something to think about as I end today's blog entry.

Joanne is home!!! (triplet 2)

Yes people.. she is home. She's setting the pace on which the rest of them would follow. :-p

Here's a pic of her ....

Updates.. updates...updates.

Finally came about to registering the babies with the Singapore Government. The counter staff over at ICA tried her very best to help register the babies in running sequence but only managed to register the girls in sequence with the boy skipping one number. Does not matter tho.... important thing is that they are Officially Singapore Citizens! Next step, claim baby bonus x 03!!! muahahahaha.

Joanne (the middle one and the biggest one) will be coming home sometime this week. Yeah!! *snaps* *snaps*. This is even without her touching the 2kg mark. The PD gave the go ahead provided that Sharon was ready to take her home. Take home process involves the ability to look after them and feed them accordinly. This is going to be so exciting as it sets the pace for the rest of sister and brother to follow. *snaps* *snaps*

Will update the blog as soon as she is back home... stay tuned!

Kangaroo Care...and Chinese Names.

Today Sharon did Kangaroo Care with Jillian and Jared. I won't go into the details but here's a link to more info. Jillian was a bit more fiesty as compared to Jared and I could see that they both enjoyed the closeness with the mommy. We would be doing more of this as it is supposed to help them with their developement. And what did I do? I bottle fed Joanne for the first time and burped her as well. When trying to burp her, I could not really tell if she already burped as I kept on thinking that the burp would be something like what I usually did... *buuuuurp*

Some more good news, the doc said that if Joanne gets any better, then she can be discharged earlier even she did not reach 2kg. yeah!!! I think that's good cause I really want to bring them home.

Today we also managed to confirm on the chinese names for them with the help of some of Sharon's relatives. It was not easy. I wonder if the other races have such a tough time with naming their kids. hmmmm

Day 7. Laying on the fat...

Yup.. they are ok and what they need to do is lay on the fat. Once they reach the target 2kg, they will be taken home with us. Yeah!!!

Sharon had her stitches removed today and it's healing well. I have a baby delivery theory.. for mothers to be. Pain will come.. it's a matter of when you want to get it. Normal labour.. you would be in pain for as long as required.. and if epidural is used.. If you opt for C-section, then your pain would be later than.. which is the case for Sharon. So, take your pick. Pain before or pain later.

Sharon also has been making steady progress on the "food" production. Soon, we really can churn out cartons of them. hahaha.

Today, Sharon got a chance to visit the babies and it was the first time, Sharon had a chance to touch them. As she touched them, she would offer comforting words and it's really really amazing to see them reacting to you. ;-p

I hope the babies can come home soon.... I miss them so much.

Day 6. The babies are growing well.

Hi all,

Thanks for the prayers thus far. The babies are doing well and Joanne might be the one to set the trend for the rest to follow to come on home with us. ;-p.

The food supply has been steady and they are also on a formula mix if required. Today when I visited them, Joanne was just given her feed and she was up. I did snap a pic of here.. but as usual, I need to really sit down and process them for upload.

I've also got their Chinese names with me. I visited a Geomancer today and he did not charge me for the names... typically, for single to double names, he would charge $100 to $200. But in the case for the triplets, it's FREE!! yeah... I like freebies!!! He said that it's not like everyday he gets a triplet walking in to ask for names.. so when he does get it, it's free. You only have to present him with the babies one month celebration food. *snaps* *snaps*.

As mentioned by the mommy, we would be heading down to visit the babies tomorrow and if we can I will snap some mommy and babies pics as well. Till tomorrow then..... nite nite!

Mom & Dad

edit: Some pics taken today.

A Big Thank You from Mommy

A BIG THANK YOU !!!!! to all relatives, colleagues and friends for your well wishes and prayers....I made it to 34weeks, delivered the triplets and I'm recuperating well at home. And also on behalf of the 3 little ones, THANK YOU everyone too!!!!

Daddy, has posted some of their pictures below, have a look, we'll try to post up more as we go along. The babies are still currently in NICU, doing well, eating well also. Their PD will be increasing their in take of milk today, so they will have both breastmilk and formula milk at the same time. Joanne may be able to come home this weekend if she continue to progress well (hurray... I miss my babies...!) I'll be visting them tomorrow before I go over to Dr. Nair's Clinic to have my stitches removed....... hurray!!!!!!! =) kekeke I'm so excited.... can't wait. So far only daddy has been visiting them.

More updates to come.... pls continue to pray for us.....

Love,
Gene, Sharon & the triple "Js"

ps: thats wat their PD call them "Triple Js" (hahahaha)

Day 5. Getting a Tan day...

Yupz... they gone under the UV light to get some tan. The weather wasn't too good outside to soak in the rays.. so they did it the fashionable way..in-doors! Time to get rid of the Jaundice....

As promised, some pics. I haven't been able to get some pics of them cause they are in their little bangalows and they often sleep facing away facing the wall. Except today when they are soaking it up... which in this case, did not matter which side you faced cause you were wearing those UV eye cover-ups so you don't really care what's happening outside. ;-p

Sharon is back home already as mentioned in the last blog. She is recovering well and the milk she has been expressing is coming along well. Soon, we can sell by the cartons! hahaha

Enough talk and here's the pics...

Sunday, March 19, 2006

Day 4. The mommy comes home.

Yes people. Sharon is back home. The blood bp level was back up to the above acceptable level and the doc gave her to green light. Yeah!! *snaps* *snaps*

Another biggie today as well, Sharon managed to express out some milk and it's was a great confidence booster for her. Yeah yeah yeah!!! *snaps* *snaps* *snaps*

The babies are doing well and with the new found food supply, they can start with the strengthening and weight gaining routine. With Sharon trying to express milk every 3 hours or so today, I made a final milk run to the NIC unit at about 10:30pm (way past the visiting hours, but if it's milk, then it's OK! hahaha) .

With Sharon back home, Sharon's mom also moved in with us and she would be help me to take care of Sharon during her confinement and when the babies come back. My own mother would also be swinging by to help with the caretaking. As you can imagine, we need all the help we can get. ;-p It's going to tough for Sharon's mother and I honestly appreciate her help. (even though sometimes I don't really show it... if you get my drift)

More on the babies, Jared has opened his eyes as well and is as curious as his sisters.. he must be wondering.. why is everyone staring at me and where is my shirt?! (he' semi-naked most of the time) The girls are doing well and Joanne, being the biggest of them all, is taking the lead in showing the way out the NIC unit back to home. GO GO GO!

Jillian today was seen moving alot and I suspect she is the one that's been causing much discomfort to Sharon while she was still inside. When Dr Nair came by and visited, she was moving so much that he commented that she must be practising Yoga. ;-) Joanne was not left out from the attention but was sleeping away not hack caring what was going on. She was caught wearing the beanie cap again and I must say.. it looks fantastic!

Again.. I know it's hard visualizing all this without any pics.. I promise I will post some up on Monday. Till then, thanks for your continous prayers and God Bless.

Day 3, taking the Right step in Life

First things first, the babies are doing well and the nurses have started feeding them 2ml of milk. Yeah.. it's not much but since it's formula milk, the nurses are playing it safe for the babies. The best milk comes from the manufacturer... i.e. The Mother. ;-p

As always.. the list of visitors Sharon got today...Thanks for the gifts and well wishes. :->
- Erm.. A couple that are friends of Sharon's mother.
- Jerry and Darryl
- Sharon's mom and dad again (the mother brings the good stuff for Sharon to for her meals)
- Joseph and Wife
- Ben, Wife and Kid
- More relatives...
- Sharon's brother and his GF, Steff.

More Updates
Sharon looked a little pale today and surprising Dr Nair dropped in on us today pretty early and he ordered blood tests for Sharon. As it turned out, Sharon was pretty low on the blood level and he ordered 2 pints of blood. Woah! When the blood was being dripped in, you can't help to wonder whoes blood it belonged to and if the collection agency (HSA) did what it was supppose to do and check all blood received. If you think about it, blood transfusion is a pretty scary thing.. you could be getting some diease from someone not well and you inturn get sick. Not funny man. Moral of the story -> If you are a blood donor, donate with the right intentions and ensure that you are WELL when giving the blood. Also be honest when filling up the questionaire on your health history and sexual activities. Do the right thing.

Well anyway, once the blood came in, the drip rate was rather slow and increasing it cause some discomfort for Sharon. So the nurse slowed the rate down. I know the adjusted rate was too slow cause after about 3 hours, the blood level in the packet only dropped like 1/4 of the way. Blood like all living things, needs to be "consumed" when fresh and with it going so slow, that was not a good thing. So came in the nurse again and adjusted it again. This time, the drip was so fast that any faster, it would become flowing. Soon the blood was gone and it was replaced with another packet. The second one went pretty quickly as well and it only took an hour. Even the nurse was suprised at the speed she "consumed" it that I started joking about how Sharon was actually a vampire in disguise. Hahaha. Hopefully the blood transfusion worked for Sharon and she could remove the painfull IV needle stuck at her hand. ;-(

If you have noticed, not a single pic is up yet... no, it not that I don't have a camera with me, it's that I have it but I need to do quite alot of processing and sorting before I want to put it up.. So many things to do, so little time. I promise I will get it up next week when Sharon is back home and I have a little more time.

For the babies, I check in on them whenever I can and they are pretty much sleeping most of the time and cry a bit when moved. hahaha... Overall, they are well and they need to catch up on the weight and they are getting a little jaundice(caused by the liver not being able to clear the toxins as yet) Other than that, they are getting on fine. Again, I can't help to thank all friends and family members in their prayers for the 3 angles. Thank you so so so much.

It's getting late and I have another big day ahead of me. Gonna catch some zzz and as usual, I will update the blog again tomorrow. ;-)

Love,
Mommy, & Daddy

Day 2. Updates... 17 Mar 2006.

The babies are doing well.... they started on glucose drips today (yesterday they had nothing to eat or drink) and they would move on to milk on Sat. The mommy (Sharon) will try and express milk for them (the babies can't come out and so the milk has to go to them).

Alot of people visited us today.. let me try and recall all of them and send out my thanks.

Lunch Time
- Sharon's Dad (came straight from the airport after a short offsite assignment)
- Sharon's Mom and her line-dacing friend
- Jake (aka the Liquor man)

Late Afternoon/Evening
- Sharon's Mom & Dad (they went home after the afternoon visit and came back with more food)
- Sharon's brother (Leonard)
- Quite a few of Sharon side of relatives also visited
- Sharon's Godma and Kum-Mo
- My Friends: Desmond, Tian Huan, Cecilia, Kelvin, WoSing
- Sharon's Colleagues: Audrey, Raphael, Huiling, Danny, Ad Lim, Thomas, Bee Keong & Jin Yi

Other than the friends that visited us, we also received alot of Fruit Baskets and Flowers of Well-Wishes. A big big big Thanks from the new Aw Family.

Some interesting observations today...
1. Most commented that the babies have "ALOT of Hair". Hair is good. You can always remove hair but not necessary true the other way round. ;-p
2. Grandpa (in-law) & I noticed that our babies had pretty long finger and the feet is pretty big as well. Now.. again, since we are both tall, I was kinda expecting that they would grow up tall and all but it was still pretty interesting to see that they picked up on the resemblance so quickly.

Going to sign-off now.. more updates tomorrow.

Daddy. (Has a nice ring to it)

Today is the day the Triples arrived!!!

Yes people, the day is finally here. The babies are out... yeah!!! "snaps snaps". We arrived at Mt Alvernia at about 5am this morning and got with the registration to admit Sharon into the hospital. If you ask me, that's way too early in the morning to be doing any paperwork. ;-p

After the paperwork was done, Sharon was assigned a ward and we were kinda hoping to get upgraded to the 2 bedder instead of the 4 bedder that we requested for. Upgrades are good... If you get them. Sharon settled into the bed and soon after, a nurse came to do some pre-op checks. While she was checking for their heart-beats, one of the babies (Sharon suspects its Jillian) kept jabbing at the probe where it picked up the heart-beats. As you can imagine, instead of hearing HBs, you kept on hearing to thumping sounds.... hahaha..

Nothing much happened after that till about 7:30 when nurse came in and gave Sharon a solution to drink to help with the recovery process after put into General anesthetic (GA). After that, the male nursed wheeled Sharon into the operation theatre. Her scheduled appointment was 8:30 but I guessed they needed time to prep and all. Having to wake up early in the morning, I did not manage to grab a good solid breakfast so when she was in, I took off to a nearby Mac to grab their $2 breakfast special. Nice...

When I got back about 9:30, I sat outside the op theatre and after about 30 mins of waiting, a nurse called me. With my heart pounding... I quickly rushed up and greeted the nurse and I was escorted to the NIC unit where my babies were. There, was the first time I saw my babies. Jillian, Jared and Joanne. They are the most beautiful babies I could ever wished for and more.

Since they were under-weight, they had to be put into the NIC unit they can reach 2kg. Till then, we need to pray that they don't suffer any complications and all they need to focus on is gaining weight. Pray for us as well.

On another note, I've received comments from both side of the Grand-Parents that our kids have a lot of hair..hmm.. Sharon did eat a lot of beef during her term.. and that could explain it. ;p

On to the mother now, Sharon is doing well with the exception of the pain where the op was done.. that's understandable and the docs are giving her mild pain-relief solutions. Other than that, she did not suffer any issues with the GA recovery and was SMSing and talking on the handphone 2 hours after the op. We all had to report to our fellow friends and colleagues on the progress as they were all equally excited as we were. Sharon would be on a IV diet for the 1st day and if the doc allows, move on to soft-food and later to solids. She should be out by the end of this week and her mother will start the month long process of looking after her and nursing her back to health. Sharon's mother is a fantastic cook and I hope Sharon picks up on that.

More to come on the babies progress and I will try to post something up every night before I sleep. Pray for us if you can and God Bless.

Love and Hugs,
Sharon, Gene, Jillian, Joanne & Jared (in correct order)
;=p

p/s As to what's with the "J" names... I wanted the names to all start with the same letter and they also had to sound great with great history and meaning to it. So we ended up with the "J" sequence. Also, "J" in between the letter "G" and "S". Ha!

p/s p/s. Editing this blog to add in some folks that visited us.

- Mervin, Debbie and Steffie (thanks to the Siows for bring me dinner and the fruits, without it, I think I would have gone home hungry)

Updates from the Father-to-be...

Sorry for the long delay in postings. Been pretty bz lately.. as you can imagine. We just got a maid to help around the house and so far.. she's been pretty ok except that she tends to be a little forgetful. I guess that is ok since she has so many things to learn in such a short span of time.

The babies have been rather active lately and that's a good sign but it's causing much discomfort for Sharon as they seem to be taking turns jabbing her when she's trying to sleep. Also, they are at a stage where are are just growing in size and you can imagine, having 3 of them inside fighting for space, it's tough for Sharon. I try and talk to the babies everynight before I go to sleep reminding them not to bully mommy. They don't always listen but I will still tell them.

We just recently decided on the english names for them. The boy is Jared Samuel Aw, and the girls would be Jillian Sarah Aw and Jolene Isabelle Aw. Might change the last Saint name Isabelle to Sophia so it might be Jolene Sophia Aw. I have to ask the mother on this. ;-)

Once the english names are confirmed, it's the chinese ones. It's not going to be easy as I can't even read chinese to save my life! hahaha. Returned it to MOE already. I will pick it up again as my children start learning it. Can't lose to them! Coming up with chinese characters for them is not easy as the name has to sound nice, be easy to write, have strokes when added up, be good, easy to write (good for me!) and finally, be in unison with the year of the Dog. Not easy.

Sharon is into her last 5 weeks of pregnacy and I pray to God that everything will go as planned. Please also pray for us if you can. Here's a pic that I took during Chinese New Year. As usual, she's wearing clothes designed and made by Fu$$yPat. aka her mother. (Standing next to her!) ;-)

This is Shannon our God-daughter

This is Shannon, our god-daughter. Picture was taken on her 1st birthday. Isn't she cute.... =)

27 weeks now... 7 weeks more to go

These 2 weeks have been tough..... I had a very bad nose bleed last week... initially we all thot it was due to the homones / pregnancy. But we found out last week, after seeing an ENT, that I had a polyp (a growth the size a blueberry) in my right nose & it burst, which is causing the nose to bleed non-stop. After consulting my Gynae, both doctors decided that it's safe to remove the polyp on the spot and sent it to the lab for testing.... so I had a minor laser surgery to remove the polyp. Well, all is well now, lab test showed that it's not cancerous... so a sigh of relief for all =) ... it got us really worried when the Dr. found the polyp.... cos I've never complained about any nose bleed except now, which is rare according to him.... =)
This week, we had a scan with Prof. to check on the babies growth. He found 2 of them to be alittle smaller, as in the waist of the baby compared to the size of the head is a bit small. If this carries on.... Dr. Nair may bailout and take the babies out earlier, as they stand a higher chance growing outside. So one more detail scan mid-Feb and we will know if the babies are coming earlier. I've also taken my steriod jabs to speed up the growth of the babies lungs, just in case they arrive early. Therefore, by mid-Feb, if the 2 babies catch up, we may last till 34 weeks, but if they still remain status quo, they may be out sometime between 32 - 33 weeks (which is early March).
Other then the 2 things happening above, everything is going fine, my sugar level have stabilised quite a bit. The babies are also very active, especially at nite. I suspect I have american time zone babies. I don't get to sleep much at nite, as they are very active and they like to harden up, sometimes they gather themselves to one side as well.... as if they are having a meeting. Their Daddy call it the "Mahjong" session time... hahaha...=)
Chinese New Year will be arriving in a couple of days..... 6-7 weeks more and I'll have 3 little doggie babies. (it's the year of the Dog). Happy Chinese New Year everyone..... have a prosperous new year, good fortune & good health to all .....!!!!!
See u all next year!!!!!

25 weeks and counting

I'm 25 weeks now..... countdown time.... 9 weeks more to go.... and I'll be 34 weeks... that's about the time my 3 babies will be out. Well, for singleton pregnancies, 40 weeks is full term, twins is 36 weeks, triplets is 34 weeks.... I'm looking forward to seeing them. Now I pray that I'll be able to carry them upto 34 weeks... i.e. target date 15th Mar 06... they should be out anytime thereafter. (friends... if u're reading this blog, pray for us ok.... thanks =).)

I'll be seeing Dr. Nair this Saturday, I hope everything's ok. Found out 2 weeks ago that I have a little too much fluid inside, which may cause pre-mature labour... so I'm on medication now to try & cut down the fluid as well as to keep the womb "quiet"... I also have Gestation Diabetes (one of the causes of excess fluid in the womb).... therefore I've got to space out my carbo meals & sugary treats, small meals every 2 hrs... just like a baby...kekeke =) i've got to do glucose blood test & keep a record for Dr. Nair too... let's see wat he says when he sees it this weekend.... Lucky for me, I don't have a sweet tooth, if not it'll be difficult to give up Coke/Chocolate etc....Best news ever is that this type Diabetes will go away after giving birth & the little babies will not be Diabetic.... =)

Sharon ...the growing mama..

Here's a pic of Sharon just before we head out for our X'mas gathering with friends. She's into her 5th month now and she has grow much much bigger. As mentioned in previous posts, the babies have started kicking and punching around and that has made resting for Sharon a tad more difficult. It so happens whenever she is moving around, the babies don't move around so much.. only when at rest or when about to sleep, do they start to move around. As expected, as the days go by, it's not going to get any easier so I pray for the babies to be good and for Sharon for strength.

Footballers...we have.

Looks like we have makings of a small-scale football team. The babies have started kicking and they are attacking from all sides. Kinda makes you wonder what they are doing inside there. Well, if you think about it, space is an issue and that kinda makes getting comfortable a continous activity. This has caused Sharon some discomfort and she has not been getting enough rest. Apparently.. only when she wants to sleep, the babies start to kick. hmmm...

Also, Sharon has gained quite a bit of weight.. as of last count, she's weighing in at 62Kg. That's almost a 10kg increase before she was expecting. I think she will reach a target weight of 70kg while the parents are placing their bets on +/- 2 kg of my predictions. In any case, Sharon does not look like she did put on much weight except on where the babies are. Good thing also that she has stopped working. :-)

Will post some pics later...

About 20 weeks now !!!!

I'm starting to feel the babies moving inside.... feels like someone is tugging my insides. Occassionally, I feel a bump on my tummy too. It's a nice feeling. At least I know they are moving inside, no need to see the gynae to know that they are alive & well. For the last 20 weeks, I was always looking forward to seeing my gynae, just to see the babies move, see them in action (kicking, bouncing here & there). Now that i can feel them moving, it's a sense of comfort. But with 3 of them in there, sometimes it feels like a war zone in there too, all moving at the same time, don't know who is doing wat...hahaha... still trying to differentiate who is who..=)

My tummy is also much bigger now, I look like I'm 6-7 months pregnant, but I'm only actually 5 months. Starting to feel tired easily, especially the backaches... it does get unbearable at times. Sleeping is also a problem, can't sleep on the sides too much, the kiddos don't like it, they'll tug at my tummy to get me to change positions...hehehehe..."demanding kids, I have".

Other then that, I'm enjoying my pregnancy..... it's a whole new experience.... enjoying the privillages too... "I'm the queen of the house".... kekekeke =P

Having dinner...

Here's a pic of Sharon at Dinner wearing a Designer Fu$$yPat dress. Can't see much of the dress tho... but it's a good enuff reason to post up pics of my Baby. :-)

16wks this week...

Here's a pic of Sharon. We were over at Mt.A hospital visiting a relative. We did not go up cause I did not want Sharon "catching" any thing. So we kinda just hung around the lobby. You can see that the babies are growing already and she's only about 4 months in.

Scan day with the Prof. 15wks 5d

All looks good. The prof went on to do the usual scanning and measurements of the babies. As usual, the prof did not spare us with his funny off the wall humour and parenting tips. While he was taking the measurements, he failed to mention to me about his ability to identify the sex of the baby. After watching many episodes of CSI, I new the XX referred to females and XY as males where the Y is from the father. So as he tagged XX onto the first baby, I new it was a girl. So happy!!! :-) then while I was out at the loo, the prof scanned the 2nd baby as XX also, another girl. At this point, I started to think about the 3 female trios that I knew and the Charmed sisters came to my mind. Piper, Phobe and Prue. Sharon obviously did not like those names and I don't seriously mean it anyway. I was also kinda praying that the next one would be a XY i.e. Boy not because I prefer any particular gender but because it would be interesting to have a Boy. God answered our prayers and it was a XY. I could not believe it when he said it and I had to ask him a few times and he kept pointing to the baby "noticeable" feature. True enought, there it was. :-) I now have 2 girls and 1 boy. Funny enough is when I told my parents and Sharon told her parents, both dads were happy there were more girls than boys... I wonder why. hmmm... maybe cause Girls would always be Daddy's little girl. So with two I am going to be a very happy Dad and with a Son, a didi or korkor for the girls.

Here's another funny thing. Since all of them are more or less conceived at the same time. (I don't know who came first.. haha) the order in which the babies are delivered determines the older and younger order of the kids. hmm.... and the prof said that the likelyhood was that the girls would be delivered before the boy.. so looks like the boy would have JieJie's instead and they have a DiDi. hmmm......

Scan day! 14wks 3 days.

Yupz. Had an appointment to visit Dr Nair at 10 and we left home at around 9.45am. haha... so obviously we did not have the time to grab breakfast and so decided to grab it along the way. While we were placing our orders at the Drive-Tru of Mac over at East Coast, Leonard popped up! Apparently, Leonard's mom was just talking about us when the car drove into the drive-in.. hahaha.. what a super conicidence. :-) anyway..I started ordering while trying to not get distracted by Leonard who was just standing behind the ordering station. Placed our order and we were off!

Over at the clinic, the wait was pretty short cause after I arrived from parking the car, Dr Nair just stepped into the clinic. The nurses took Sharon's weight and blood pressure and all was good. Sharon gained about 3Kg since the last visit so...it's not too bad. Need to gain MORE! kakaka

When the scanning started, Dr Nair showed us the babies and he started taking measurements of their growth. While that was happening, he started joking about how the babies were making gestures at us. For the first kid, he spotted a Ultraman!... the baby was making a sign of a cross with it's arms..haha. Next was Superman and finally it was Batman. That kinda made Sharon concerned as Dr Nair seemed to implied that they were all guys. wooohoo. Then he quickly added that they could be girls also and if so, then all would be just Wonderwoman. :-p

14th weeks

Sharon is heading back to work this Thursday. If I had a choice, I would rather she stay at home. If she had a choice, I think she would stay in too. What's not to like about a tai-tai lifestyle. Play Mahjong, sleep when you feel like it, watch afternoon soap operas. Life is good.

As to why she has to go back, well, I think it a mixed bag of things. She has been missing from work since we found out about the pragnancy and that did kinda hit the department where she worked at pretty hard. Nobody was expecting it to be so sudden. And if things were not exciting enuff, we are expecting triplets (if you don't already know.. haha). With that, it kinda mixed our lives (and everyone around us) into a mess. :-)

Alot of changes had to be made and arrangement to be settled. Not easy man.. but so far.. so good. hehe.

Pray for Sharon and the babies. (my preciousousous)

This is my 13th week

I'm now then only in my 13th week. Hubby was getting a little too ahead with the previous blog. Well, like he mentioned, there's 3 of them in there. (triple the headache....haha) Our gynae has been very good, preparing us in advance wat difficulties we will face as I grow bigger & heavier, the complications that can arise...etc. It's good, but at the same time it's scary too. I don't deny it, I am afraid.=( It's natural...I guess. =P

The babies have been very good, not much morning sickness, except for feeling queasy in the evenings. No cravings yet....(hubby keeping fingers crossed...hehe). Feeling breathless sometimes, but Dr. says it's ok, lots of blood flowing from the heart to the babies, especially now that their hearts are pumping faster. They're growing fast. Had a NT scan with Prof. last week, they look more human now, with hands, legs, ears, nose & a big head. I used to call them my little "Peanuts". Looks like I have to call them little babies now... =)

I had a funny question put to me the other day. A colleague ask how big is my waist now... I went..."Wat waist?...Have not seen my waist for a couple of weeks"........ hahahaha.... gives u an idea how big I am at 13 weeks.....I'll be going back to work next week, everyone in the office is eager to see how big I've grown.... =)

ok.... that's about all for this week... will try to update this blog as I progress with this pregnancy.... stay tuned...... =)

13th week

just went for detail scan last week and all the babies look good! :-) The professor that attended to us was pretty funny and yet.. had very strict views on raising kids. After the session, it got me thinking about how we were, moving forward, raise our kids. Of course, the initial plan was to raise the kids with the helps of both our parents... but then that also got me thinking, is that the way you want your kids moulded... by your parents and not by you? Alot of people say that the first 6 years of your children's life is the most precious and that's when you mould them to how they will be when they grow up. Well.. at least I get to this is at one go for the 3 of them and that is why I must really focus on getting it right.

I also attended a surprise B'day party at Mervin's place for Fred. He will be 32 on the 17th of Oct. Mine is coming up in a couple of months........ SURPRISE me. The people who came were of a pretty interesting group... they were all parents and with me as a expected father... it's like it's a gather for parents. Whenever a kid started crying... anxious parents would look around to see if it was theirs... haha. And when one starts crying.. the rest soon followed. This may seem amusing at first..but try having that non-stop, then you will soon realise the pain. I hope I've got a better treshold for this...3 leh.

Also started shopping for kids stuff and let me tell you, they are NOT cheap! Take for example those electronic breast pumps, they start from $200 all the way to $800 for those duo ones (both of the breast lah). Those companies making those thing really know how to milk you. (pun intended).

I'm looking for sponsorship for my triplets...anyone? ;-)
